• Tip 5: Show how the story has changed you

Good stories often contain a moral message.  In a personal anecdote, you might show how the experience has changed you, hopefully for the better.  For example, the person telling the story in Tip 4 might finish by saying, “And to this day, I always double-check if I have my wallet before I leave the house.”
Personal stories are a great option if you need to give an impromptu speech or simply kill time with friends.  Since you never know when you might need to tell an anecdote, it's worth always having one up your sleeve.
