• 2 Quinceanera
In Central and South America, a girl who turns 15 years old is called a quinceanera.  This term is also used to refer to a girl's 15th birthday event.  It often starts in a church with a Catholic mass.  Here, girls renew religious vows and their commitment to their families.
The next step is to throw a big party.  Traditionally, the girl enters the party accompanied by seven pairs of guests (seven girls and seven boys) and is escorted by a boy or her father.  The young woman wears a brightly colored dress and tiara to match her style and personality.  There is a lot of dancing at the party, as well as food and drinks.  After this, the girls are no longer considered children.
